Apple cider vinegar is a natural product made from apple or cider, and it has been known for centuries that this beverage has a lot of healthy benefits.
Some of them are: lowers the blood sugar, helps weight loss and regulation of blood pressure. It’s also used for healing skin burns, cuts or skin pigmentation, for shiny hair, for safely clean in your home and of course we should not forget its importance in the kitchen whether we used it in salads or in preparing some recipes.
For those who don’t have time, there is a large offer of apple cider vinegar in almost every supermarket, but you should pay attention of the type you buy because the best one is organic, unpasteurized and unfiltered apple cider vinegar.
But,if you have time and mood to cook or if you just like spending time in kitchen, we’ll show you how to prepare it :
You will need:
– A large glass jar
– 1 kg organic apples ( if you can’t find organic just remove the peel )
– mineral or filtered water
– 3 tablespoons raw sugar
– paper towel or gauze
Wash thoroughly the apples and cut them into pieces of medium size . Then put them in a clean glass jar ,add the sugar and fill the jar with water until all the apples are completely covered, but make sure to not overfill the jar with water.Next step is to cover the top of the glass jar with a gauze ( cheesecloth) or paper towel, secure it with a large band and place it in a dark place at temperature between 15 to 25 degrees for about 2 to 4 weeks. You will notice the process of fermentation after only a few days, mother culture will form on the top and apples will fall into pieces. After 4 weeks use the gauze to squeeze out the vinegar including as much as you can from the apples, then pour it into another glass jar , cover and leave it to proceed with fermentation for another 2 weeks. When you will be satisfied with the taste , you can start using your apple cider vinegar. If the taste is to strong for you, just add water as much as you think is enough.
However we must know that ,to much of any healthy food can have negative side effects. So it’s important to follow the recommendations for daily uses of that food or drink like in this case ,because otherwise you may feel some reactions.
Taking too much or too long apple cider vinegar may cause some digestive problems, can damage tooth enamel, just like soft drinks and fruit juices do, can cause skin burns if the vinegar is more acidic, and may interact with some medications like certain diuretic drugs and insulin. Checking of potassium levels is important if you take insulin and vinegar!
So, enjoy our recipe and start taking small amount at the beginning and slowly increase the daily intake of two tablespoons .
